1. Hypocrisy 2. Denial 3. Elitist mentality, for example, believing that your faith is the only way to heaven, and Gods love. 4. Twisting the word of God to form a Society of machines, willing to go to war for "God". 5 Government and Religion have become One. Pick one. What aspect of fundamental religion bothers you the most?
4 - I can live with the rest, although I consider "Twisting the word of God" to be the equivalent of lying, which is a form of hypocrisy (#1). I don't buy "into" #5, although that seemed to be the case until today (for the United States). Now we'll see if it separates (and I believe it will).
4 %26amp; 5. I don't care what they believe in, or what they do in their lives. I just don't like fundamentalists who insist on imposing their religious beliefs into government and society, where it doesn't belong. What aspect of fundamental religion bothers you the most?
5. But 4 is really scary too.
all of the aboveWhat aspect of fundamental religion bothers you the most?
ooh, that's a tough one. but i'd have to go with 3.
6. History revision.
7. Scapegoating of those unlike you.
8. Insistence on reading their scriptures word-for-word literally.
9. Anti-rationalism (not necessary for fundamentalism, but frequently accompanies it).
the fundamentally wrong aspects...you pick one...
6. How easy it is to emotionally manipulate feelings and convince yourself or another person that your own manipulation of feelings are actually revelations from God
I am pretty religious but I think its easy for religious people to whip themselves into a false frenzy and you have to be careful that what you are sensing is really the spirit and not what you think the spirit should be.
A very charismatic person could easily manipulate those emotions on purpose for reasons that are less than honorable.
hypocrisy when they criticize with lies and half truths and don't listen to the truth
3. Elitist mentality.
This is what bothers me the most and why i decided to become Muslim. I know there are some Muslims who claim that Islam is the only way, but this is simply not true. Islam accepts Christianity and Judaism as pathways to God so it can't possibly be elitist. It is open and accepting to these religions. I really didn't like the Christian idea that the only way to God is through Christ. That really disgusted me and it's why i didn't become Christian
depends on the religion
not every religion is the same
now if you mean what people who claim to belong a religion and do not follow what it says, that would be different.
I'd pick 3. Because the concept of God denies reality, and allows all kinds of further denial - along with the rest of the list.
wow. so many good ones to pick from . Id go with the elitist mentality. I hate that.
All of the above. But if I had to pick just one, I'd go with the elitist mentality.
people live their lives in fear of god
