How do you tell what your getting for Christmas?

Like any signs like body language when you tell them what you want?

Or twisting Words?

Or anything?

I know it's supposed to be a surprise and all... but this is different this year :)How do you tell what your getting for Christmas?
Our family has a system that seems to work quite well for us, now that we're all at least teenagers.

We write a list of things we'd like for Christmas, trying to include things in different price ranges and perhaps some that allow an element of choice and judgement on the part of the buyer. Generally the list has more things on than there are people buying gifts.

These lists are put up in my parents' house, easily available to any family member who either visits or phones up to ask what is on the lists. When someone buys something on a list, they either cross it off themselves or they phone someone and ask them to cross it off.

This way, people can make sure they buy something the person wants (you're free to buy something not on the list too), people can avoid buying the same gift, and yet the person receiving the gift doesn't know who bought what, so opening the presents still carries an element of tension and surprise.

If something is a priority gift for you, you can always make sure you specify that on your list. How do you tell what your getting for Christmas?
