Why do the same people who claim the Repubs twist Obamas words use the 100 year remark McCain made as ammo?

That was a jumbled sentence, sorry. What I mean is, people are getting all up in arms that the Repubs supposedly twisted Obamas words about his Iraq policy, then they usually say something or other about how McCain wants a 100 year war. That is a blatant falsehood. He said we may have a presence in Iraq for that long, much like we have one in Germany, Korea, Vietnam basically everywhere we've entered combat.

Before you say I'm a neocon or something equally creative. I'm not. I wanted Hillary, but will vote either Nader or Obama, depending on what happens between now and then. Remember, just because I question the almighty one doesn't mean I am morally opposed to him. I just keep an open mind to his faults and strengths. Why do the same people who claim the Repubs twist Obamas words use the 100 year remark McCain made as ammo?
I think it's because McCain said it. It was only later that he qualified it. And what really angered me was the patronizing way in which he said it. He talks to people like they are stupid.

If you want your vote to count, don't vote for Nader. He's not a viable candidate. I even voted for him back in the old days. I now realize that we need to do everything we can to get Bush and his cronies out of the White House. Early on, McCain tried to pretend that he wasn't one of them, but now he's brought in the Bush artillery to his campaign. I want to make sure we don't end up with another Republican president after all, so I'm voting for Obama.
McCain said we'd have a presence in Iraq for 100 years... after we win.

In other words, our troops will be in Iraq for 200 years.

No. Elect Obama and bring the troops home in 2009. If it takes several redeployments, and we can only get a majority of them home by 2009, and nearly all the rest can come home in 2010, fine. But we are not going to have troops still in Iraq when the 2012 election comes along. You lose, Dubya. Why do the same people who claim the Repubs twist Obamas words use the 100 year remark McCain made as ammo?
McCain is being called out on the 100 year remark because he continues to justify a war that we now know was based on lies. He is 100% behind Bush and, sorry, the neocons in support for this travesty.

At the same time he has not addressed the economy or the sequel about to rage in Afghanistan. Until he shows some testicular fortitude in calling Bush out, he will remain suspect to the vast majority of the American people.
McCain said he would be willing to keep troops in Iraq for 100 years (or more). He thinks that Iraq will suddenly become like Germany, Japan, or South Korea, but anyone with any sense knows that the violence and killing in Iraq is just going to keep going on and on and on.

So, McCain is living in a fantasy world, and plans to leave our soldiers in harm's way while he dreams about Iraq turning into Japan. Why do the same people who claim the Repubs twist Obamas words use the 100 year remark McCain made as ammo?
It's do as I say, not as I do.
I don't think many have heard about Obama's latest flip flop. He's now saying that he will listen to Gen. Petraeus about when he can bring the troops home.

Obama has said he would start pulling out more troops as soon as he became president.

"My hope is that Petraeus would reflect that wider view of our strategic interest," he said on "Fox News Sunday."

"I will listen to General Petraeus given the experience that he has accumulated over the last several years," Obama said. "It would be stupid of me to ignore what he has to say."

This is the same as McCain's stance!
Goon and thugs are goons and thugs. Lying is just what they do. Kind of like when Obama says his words were "inartful" or "mispoken' instead of outright false.
