The government creates the Consumer Price Index and it is a joke. It bears no semblance to the reality of living in the US. The cost of housing is normally the largest monthly expense and it is largely ignored.

Cost of living has gone down actually. The primary driving force behind the latest cost of living increases was the increase in the cost of oil. Oil has gone way down. Remember 4-5 dollar gas? You might be paying a little bit more on other things but that doesn't out do the decrease associated with the lower cost of oil.



And by the way, Congress did not agree to raise their pay. If you read that in an e-mail, it was a lie. I got that one a few weeks ago myself.Why do people always twist word and the meaning of words, COST OF LIVING means what it?

One of my neighbors is a multi millionaire and could easily live in a mansion and drive the most expensive car the world could offer. Instead she lives in a very modest home and drives a mini van.
Cost of living was based of the cost of milk eggs and bread. I have no clue what they use now but if you base it off that and shop at wal mart, it is way down. LOL
