Romans 1:27. "In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." No twisting there, just reading word for word. There is no excuse to "hate" gay people, however, and Christians who do are seriously out of line.Why do christians twist the words of the bible to hate gays?
the Bible specifically lists 3 "abominations": homosexuality, a heart that longs to sin, and a tongue that can't be tamed. most of the people you are refering to as "christians" just bash on the first one because they are usually guilty of one or both of the other 2. and according to the bible an abomination is a sin that can't be forgiven because it's a lifestyle of sin. so, sorry but homos is one of them.
Christians don't hate gays. Homosexuality is a sin and it can be overcome. People can change with effort and by repentance.

here are a couple of verses below. and although we are no longer under the Law, even the New Testament scripture shows that being 'gay' is a sin. it doesn't mean that gay people can't go to heaven, though. if they turn to the Lord, He can take away their sin and forgive them.



Genesis 2:24-25 “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” Hebrew 13:4 says, “Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”



In Romans 1:26-27 Paul is very specific, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.”



In 1 Corinthians 6:9, Paul wrote, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind.”
I don't twist words of the bible to "hate" gays. Hate is something is not even encouraged in the bible. All the bible says is that homosexuality is a sin. Who cares if it is a "sin". I certainly don't...as long as it doesn't effect me....just don't protest in my front lawn :D

Twist the words of the bible? maybe not necessarily hate gays....but it is very clear that the bible was written by a culture that despised homosexuality to the point of abomination. If you want a more sympathetic group, read about the pre-Christian Greeks and Romans.
I agree with you. people use the bible to pump up their beliefs. homophobia has been around forever. but what's funny is that these same bible thumpers who judge homosexuals and claim that they are just obeying what the bible tells them to do. however they must have foroget the verse which says in the book of mark(new testament) which states that if a true believer drinks posioin it will not hurt them. i have never seen a sunday preacher gulp down a cup of strychnine in the name of jesus. also the bible says that if a woman is raped that the raper must marry the woman and pay her father some silver. i often wonder how many preachers if their daughter was raped would glady go along with that one? I doubt it. these bible thumpers are just pick and choose folks. they pick out the verses of the bible that fit their lifestyle and their beliefs and ignore the other ones

So everyone interprets the words of God into their own and say they are following the bible.

How many christians really understand what God is trying to tell them? Not many because they are learning through what their preachers preach.
...God destroyed a whole city because they were gay and lived immorally... Just saying...



But seriously, people should not "bash" other people. That's just wrong. I mean, I don't exactly agree with their choices, but I'm not gonna go hating on them because of it...



Also, being gay isn't a choice, but choosing to engage in homosexual acts IS a choice.
Time to understand it is not about belief, God or Jesus but about the intolerance, hatred and persecution from those terribly BAD christian attitudes and conduct!!



As soon as Christians rediscover the loving god and start acting like it the problem will cease!!!!

Jude 7: “Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them, after they .?.?. And I can see what you mean, but actually, the Bible does in fact condemn gays (just like it condemns anyone that does not fit in to the "norm") Exactly why I find the book a piece of rubbish.

Why should someone have to change just because a book written by humans eons ago told them that their lifestyle is wrong? Ridiculous.
The bible is clear that homosexuality is an abomination onto the lord. I'm sorry you can't handle that, therefor feel the need to label those who read you those words as haters. You need to take that up with God, not us. God bless.

I don't hate gays. I just think it is unusual or below the norm. I never have seen a multitude of gays. When I do see them I can count them on my hands how many I have seen.
The Bible actually says that It is detestable. I think people twist their minds to justify what they want. What people want is not always good for them in the end.

We Christians DON'T hate gays themselves. You read in the Bible you can find many different accounts where God destroyed whole cities because of their immoral behavior,(getting drunk, immoral sex--men with men,women with women), and finally he destroyed the earth except for Noah and his family because they followed Him. The homosexual "lifestyle" is what Gods' followers don't agree with. God made Adam, and then He made Eve so man would have a companion/mate. As for your comment about God "making gays that way" all I have to say is MALARKEY! I have a very good friend who USED TO BE gay. I remained his friend, studied the Bible with him, prayed about it lot, and today,in God's own time, that friend is now married to a very lovely lady, like me he has given up different 'vices' ie: smoking %26amp; drinking. I had one more hurdle to overcome--drugs when I was in my late teens. SO... when you tell yourself that you were 'born that way' YOU are the one who is kidding yourself. I pray for you. I have a question for You--why do you think Christians are "out-to-get-you"? We are a loving family of believers--at least those of us who really ARE Christians! I'm a lesbian Christian who loves God. However, it's difficult for me to find any comfort among other Christians because they have been brought up to believe homosexuality is a sin. And who knows? Maybe it is. The point is it's unethical and unchristian to pick and choose from the bible the way so many do. If we followed all the text of Leviticus word for word then men could stone their wives and sell their children to slavery.



To any who rebuke this stating it is also in the New Testament...

The New Testament also contains passages from Paul saying women should not speak unless it is through their husbands.



My feud with the heterosexual fundamentalist Christians is their inability to open their eyes.

I battled homosexuality for years. I dated men, tried to block out thoughts, and prayed to God night after night.

The gay was still there.

It is in no way a choice. I would have never chosen this life.



So please, show some love for you Christian brothers and sisters and stop with the judging. Even Jesus wants you to lay off.

I would also like to add this...

Throughout my life I have never felt an absence of God. Nor have I felt disapproval for the way that I am.

I have known I was homosexual from the time I hit puberty... It was either environmental or biological... But I was raised in a Conservative Christian family who believed strongly that homosexuality is a sin.

How could God create me, knowing full well I would be gay, and then convict me... Punish me for something I had no control over?



Do you want to believe God is like that?
leviticus something says you are not allowed to be gay, upon pain of death.





HOWEVER, what most Christians don't realize is, in the New Testament there is a passage that states all the Old Testament laws are void.



So gay-bashing Christians FAIL.
