Is it appropriate to use the word "technology" in Fantasy?

I'm working on a fantasy story that incorporates a lot of conventional sci-fi themes, but is with decidedly fantasy twists.

I'm wondering if it'd be out of place to use the word, technology, either in narration or dialogue when the setting is medieval/feudal.Is it appropriate to use the word "technology" in Fantasy?
I don't think it would be out of place. In a medieval time, the use of certain things considered simple today could be called technology, even new technology. I've seen the word appear in fantasy novels before (can't recall the name at the moment) and it didn't seem out of place in the context. Though you might want to be careful in regard to who says it (for instance, a peasant-like person might not, but anyone who has some education probably would). Is it appropriate to use the word "technology" in Fantasy?
In a setting _without_ technology, then you shouldn't be using the word.

If your setting has technology, it isn't medieval. Is it appropriate to use the word "technology" in Fantasy?
Depends on the way in which the fantasy is presented. Anything in the way of steampunk or post-apocalyptic genres is totally okay.

...actually, you're probably safe on principle, considering that technology can apply to something as simple as a catapult. Technology is a relative term, and doesn't necessarily mean wires and circuits :-)
