Not an English word? Many of our words aren't "English" by tradition. You eat burritos don't you? Or is that word not appropriate either? Or lasagna? Argh... All I can think of is food, it's lunch time.
It is an English word... ok, well, as one person already said, many, if not most, of the words we use every day come directly from or stem from other languages. But anyways, jihad is an English word, defined as a vigorous, emotional crusade for some sort of higher idea or power.
