Intelligent Design (creationism) supporters, why do you deny all evidence, and twist the word theory?

To hear a Creationist speak, you would think that "theory" meant some sort of completely untested guess.

In the brilliant Nova episode that just aired, the main doctor for the plaintiffs (who sued a school board for trying to shove a creationist book on the 9th grade science teachers and students) explained that "theory" can only be used to describe a well-tested description of the world.

At this point, I just really want to know why Creationists, evangelicals, and many other Christians in America go about actively ignoring facts and information. And then, as if we all can't see them ignoring the truth, they say that what is real is not real... actively ignoring reality!

If you self identify as a Creationist, or supporter of Intelligent Design, how do you justify denying the truth? Isn't that Satan's job?Intelligent Design (creationism) supporters, why do you deny all evidence, and twist the word theory?
I think it has something to do with emotionalism and being socially tied to a church.
I am currently reading a book that can give you a few answers.

The title is "the god delusion", by Richard Dawkins, written in 2006.

He is anti creationist, and gives a lot of good explanations about why all this self design "theory" cannot make sense. He also gives a few "reasons to believe" given by the "intelligent design" supporters.

I encourage you to read it, it is very accessible and enjoyable...Intelligent Design (creationism) supporters, why do you deny all evidence, and twist the word theory?
to recognize the truth would be to discard their most closely held beliefs that they have had since birth. i know many christians, not one is a creationist, most creationists are really hardcore christians whose world revolves around their religion, without it their life would be fairly empty, you can see how they would ignore something that disagrees with their beliefs.
anyone is entitled to their opinion. i believe in natural selection and evolution but i also believe that it is a theory and however unlikely, has a chance of being proven wrong. i let people believe what they want, and in 9th grade i probably thought something very similar, considering the fact i havent been converted yetIntelligent Design (creationism) supporters, why do you deny all evidence, and twist the word theory?
They are too retarded to realize the allegorical value of Genesis.

Even St. Augustine of Hippo was opposed to this behavior.
You were right. I am an atheist, and proud to be a monkey. ?
I'm with you, they are all nuts.
I am so glad I'm an atheist, and Richard Dawkins rocks!
