Are people who twist God's word to fit what they want to believe not even Christians?

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them. Isaiah 8:20Are people who twist God's word to fit what they want to believe not even Christians?
yep
Atheists do this all the time. They are shining examples of Isaiah 8:20.

I believe there is some degree of wiggle room in the scripture that one can have while still being saved. For instance, I'm not sure that it matters if someone believes in 6 literal days of creation or believe that this was metaphor. If they believe that the Gospels represent a true account of the life of Christ, and believe in Christ and seek a relationship with Christ, then they can be saved. Are people who twist God's word to fit what they want to believe not even Christians?
Assumption: When you say "God's word" you mean the cannonical Bible of the reformed protestant tradition.

The Bible is a very large book, with lots of different authors saying lots of different things on lots of different subjects, with lots of differing implications. One easy example--is the appropriate description of Satan the lawyerly executive as described in Job who works in the presence of God, or the damned Dragon of the Revelation? Is the appropriate organizing principle for a Christian religion that it holds "the Keys of the Kingdom" as the Catholics believe, that "two or three be gathered in [Jesus]" as the reformers believe, or that there be new revelation after "there be a falling away first"? All of these have a basis in the Savior's very words as they are recorded in the cannonical Gospels. It becomes a matter of interpretation and emphasis on which well-intended, reasonable believers can disagree.

My short answer to you is an emphatic NO! I believe a Christian is someone who draws upon an important tradition of theological, moral, and artistic thought to understand and work with modern struggles. "Twisting" is unavoidable.
The people that rearely live according to the word.

The bible is open to interpretation.

This occurs plenty outside bibliocal faith.

You have not stated what specifically you are asserting!

Come back with a rebuttal of your fit or misfit as applied to your commemts. Are people who twist God's word to fit what they want to believe not even Christians?
One who follows the Word of God and what Jesus have commanded are Christians and not anyone else even people who are born in Christian family.
1 Samuel 12:15 Believe not the words in this book for they are the words of falsehood and deception.
No, I would consider them normal christians.
Agree, or they live a double life saying and doing the opposite of what they preach on Sun.
In some cases, "good enough" is perfection.
You are correct..Like the 'Christians' that claim being a homosexual is okay with God
No True Scotsman is a logical fallacy. You lose.
Some do, others don't.
that actually sounds like a christian to me
You tell us, twister.
