In the orphanage, Oliver ask for more food. This is seen as so outrageous that they decide to sell him. He's sold to a funeral director because his face is so sad it's thought he would make a good 'professional mourner'. But then he runs off to join a troop of pickpockets and thieves, mostly children, run by a man named Fagan. There he has more adventures.
Like most of Dickens' novels, it ends with a bit of surprise information being revealed that changes everything.
Its a wonderful book, and one of the easier of Dickens' works to read today and understand. I highly recommend you read it. You'll probably enjoy it more than you thought you would. 8^)
